The International Refugee Day the 20th June 2009

For years, many countries and regions have been holding their own Refugee Days and even Weeks. This specific day is dedicated to raise awareness of the situation of refugees throughout the world.
The refugee day was instituted in 2001 and its intention is to make us more understanding on the way to make life less difficult for people less fortunate.

Once again, the Praxis volunteers has done an effort to make this world a little better. We were hosting an exhibition at the eleutheria square in Serres with the ambition to make people as attentive as possible. We have also made a movie that will be visable on the website within short. Don't forget to check out our Photoalbum and share our ambition to make the circumstances better for our fellowmen in need.

Allways remember that
YOU can make a difference. All the rivers, in the end, flows to the sea.

Pictures from the Greek Easter

The 18th of April the PRAXIS volunteers celebrated the Greek Easter at
a very beautiful monastary in the mountains outside of Serres.

Daniel,
Toby, myself and our special guest Johanna from Sweden thought it was
very interesting to see how the Greeks celebrate Easter. Many people
had gathered in and outside of the monastary as the priests and the
nuns sang songs to celebrate the rescurrection of Jesus. As the clock
struck midnight the priest lit a holy candle that the crowd used to
ignite the candles of their own. Afterwards we were invited to eat a
traditional Easter dinner consisting of soup together with a Greek
family.

We also had Brano from Slovakia with us and he took a lot of beautiful photos that can be seen i our picture galleries.

Go and have a look!
